If the "Former Guardians" were made into a movie today, here's how I would cast it. I have altered some of the pictures to help you get a better-mind's eye view of how the author sees the characters.

castingnerissa.jpg

"Nerissa Donovan" (Sophia Bush)

Quite literally the hardest casting choice I had to do for this series, save for Dante. The difference was, I didn't know exactly what I wanted her to look like: More a person you could see being evil or a person you could see being nice... I couldn't choose. I think I went as far in my desperation as considering Natalie Portman, who in my opinion, was very far off the character. I had trouble settling on Sophia because I have never seen her on screen, and I still have not to this day. But I cast mostly by the eyes, and hers told me something. I don't know what, but it was Nerissa speaking. I compared her beside the comic's picture of Nerissa, and that was it for me.

castingcassidy.jpg

"Cassidy Englebert" (Thora Birch)

This girl was a inspired choice. Cassidy proved to be tough to cast, but Thora won me over int he end. She's got Cassidy's cute cheeks, lovely dreamer blue eyes, and perfect hair. Plus, she could look serious when she wants to be as well.

Recommended movies: American Beauty

castingkadma.jpg

"Kadma Alia" (Adriana Lima)

This girl had Kadma written all over her. With the superior attitude, the haughty way about her, and yet a bit of sophistication and class rolled in there too. This is not a girl to sell herself short, but is wise and knows exactly who she is. She doesn't seem like a person who will stand for nonsense.

castingash2.jpg

"Ashlee" (Trent Ford)

I fell in love with Trent after I saw him in a magazine a few years back, and he stuck with me ever since. I thought he would be good as Ash because he's not someone you would see as the warrior full-time, but also as a person who can care and love. When you see him photographed, you can immediately sense that leaderly quality in him. At least, I definitely could...

Recommended movies: How to Deal

castingsydrin.jpg

"Sydrin" (Toby Hemingway)

I chose Toby after I watched the only movie he has ever done. I looked at his finely chiseled face, and thought that he looked like the perfect choice for Sydrin. His features are very smooth, very cat-like qualities evident. Also, the way he was portrayed in the movie gave a very subtle but strong screen presence.

Recommended Movies: The Covenant

castingtred.jpg

"Tred" (Drake Bell)

Though this boy usually does comedy, I felt he looks the part to the T.

Recommended movies: Drake and Josh

castingyanlin.jpg

"Yan Lin" (Fann Wong)

The only movie I've seen this girl in is with Jackie Chan in Shanghai Knights, which I thought she was absolutely beautiful in. I looked her up, and saw her with short hair, and squealed at how much she resembled Yan. Needless to say, it was a very short search.

Recommended movies: Shanghai Knights

castinghalinor.jpg

"Halinor White" (Katherine Heigl)

I chose her because she seems to be a person in touch with her emotions, which is how I envision Halinor being. Halinor is a weak-hearted character, not honorable and brave like the rest of them, but rather struggles to be a hero. I thought that how Katherine was at the end of Season 2 of Gray's Anatomy quite literally should have won an Emmy, seeing as she broke my heart in two. In the future, you will see Halinor doing the same.

Recommended Movies: Gray's Anatomy: Season 2

castingwilona.jpg

"Queen Wilona" (Claire Danes)

I chose Claire Danes because her presence is so gentle and majestic, and she is someone I could easily see as an angelic regal figure with a magical power. Her eyes are also very sad, and you can pity her easily while not compromising her strength as a ruler.

Recommended movies: Romeo and Juliet, Little Women

castingroarke.jpg

"Favian Roarke" (Rufus Sewell)

I chose this guy Rufus, quite simply because he scares the snot out of me. If he came at me with any maleficious intention I would flee on sight. His voice is frightening, his eyes are frightening, everything about him screams the baddie.

Recommended Movies: A Knight's Tale, the Illusionist

castingdante.jpg

"Dante" (Vincent LaRusso)

I chose Vincent for his commanding presence, his macho air, but most of all, for those eyes. Those eyes tell stories of his past, emotions, and any other angsty thoughts that might be lurking around. You do not want to mess with him.

Recommended Movies: The Mighty Ducks
